Roles & Responsibilities:

– Perform optical transceiver module validation in system level MDVT (Mechanical Design Verification Test)

– Configure and execute mechanical tests on multiple Cisco switches/routers

– Execute system-level MDVT (including Mechanical Shock and Vibration, Altitude, Drop, Tipover, Humidity, Fit, Thermal, Airflow, Acoustic, HALT)

– Operate and debug the testing equipment and stations to resolve testing issue (environmental chambers, Network Traffic Generators, etc.)

– Provide detailed issue details and description, and drive issues to closure

– Write test report and document the test procedure and result

– Work cross functionally with hardware engineers to ensure robust test methodology and timely issue mitigation resulting in high product quality

Preferred Qualifications:
– B.S. in Mechanical Engineering 2-4 years of relevant experience

– Hands on experience with electrical and mechanical test and measurement equipment (traffic generators (Ixia, Spirent), optical attenuators, digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes)

– Hands on experience with basic networking on various Cisco networking platforms, including Cisco IOS/NXOS configuration

– Possesses a quality-oriented mindset and attention to details

– Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills

– Ability to diagnose problems and communicate failures to the team

– Knowledge and understanding of Mechanical and Environmental stress testing methods (Mechanical Shock and Vibration, Altitude, Drop, Tipover, Humidity, Fit, Thermal, Airflow, Acoustic, HALT), test tools (environmental chambers, CMM machine, Network Traffic Generator IXIA, SmartBits etc.) and industrial standards a plus

Desired Skills:

– Experience with Cisco Test Tracker or other automation test tools

– Good written & verbal communication skills

– Ability to work well with others

– Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a dynamic work environment

– A “can do” attitude, independent thinking, and ability to articulate complex technical issues in an effective manner

– Tenacious and patient engineer with strong multi-tasking, decision making, and problem-solving skills who is also focused on innovation and dedication to customer success

– Working knowledge of mechanical fabrication and assembly processes a plus
